About Me

Portrait of Jo McKenzie

Background & Credentials

I grew up on the East Coast and have called the Pacific Northwest home since 2012. I earned my MSW from New York University's Silver School of Social Work in 2006. Perinatal social work and case management are my clinical specialties, and I also have experience in medical/surgical and pediatric settings, program management, and crisis intervention.

Approach to Supervision

I have been credentialed as a clinical supervisor in Oregon since 2018. My style is warm, collaborative, and engaging. I enjoy uncovering and challenging established patterns of thinking and having my own challenged in return. I believe our supervision hour belongs to you, the supervisee, to structure and use as you please. I'm there in a support role, walking alongside you as you work toward your own learning and development goals. I have experience working with CSWAs who identify as LGBTQ+, people of color, neurodivergent, and/or multilingual.

Fees

I charge $150 for each individual supervision hour. Reduced pricing may be available when supervision fees are not covered or reimbursed by an employer and the CSWA is unable to pay the full amount.

Testimonials

"Joanna is a seasoned LCSW and clinical supervisor. I worked with her for around 3 years and felt she created a warm and safe environment where I felt comfortable bringing difficult cases, asking questions and exploring my own perceptions, values and biases. Joanna actively modeled core clinical techniques to help me decide on the best approaches, and I believe I gained considerable skills in understanding and applying core social work values and our code of ethics to my work. I would definitely recommend Joanna for both long term clinical supervision as well as short term clinical consultations. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to learn and grow with Joanna as my clinical supervisor."

"My experience receiving supervision from Joanna was incredibly fulfilling. Her style is warm, direct and flexible. I felt very well supported and she made it easy to share my thought processes when it came to my work. I especially admired her emphasis on social work code of ethics and values. She helped me see my work through a different lens and always had thought-provoking questions that helped me grow my own clinical skills. The feedback and support I received from Joanna were invaluable. What makes her different is that she is passionate and intentional about providing supervision and it is evident in her approach."
